Sally K.

Living in the city of Beirut, Sally Khoury paints the many faces of woman on over-sized canvas. After graduating from LAU (Lebanese American University) in Fall 2005 with a BA in Fine Arts, she has exhibited in various, cafes, restaurants, galleries, pubs and clubs in the city, and thus has taken a prominent step onto the art scene. Her work has gained much attention due to her depiction of exaggerated features and her versatile use of explosive colors. Each woman she depicts tells her own story. Her art work is aggressively bold and yet alluring in all its femininity. It pushes the boundaries of understanding and defining women.

I found the presentation she gave at LAU quite interesting and I really really loved her work.

David Carson

David Carson

David Carson is an American graphic designer. He is best known for his innovative magazine design, and use of experimental typography. He was the art director for the magazine Ray Gun. Carson was perhaps the most influential graphic designer of the nineties. In particular, his widely-imitated aesthetic defined the so-called “grunge” era.

Carson’s work is at the same time meaningful and esthetically beautiful, he mixes a lot of techniques and elements and includes a lot of superpositions. we have the feeling that his surfer/no rule/artist mind is bursting out on all of his work !!

Advertising

Advertising is a form of communication that typically attempts to persuade potential customers to purchase or to consume more of a particular brand of product or service. Many advertisements are designed to generate increased consumption of those products and services through the creation and reinforcement of “brand image” and “brand loyalty”. For these purposes, advertisements sometimes embed their persuasive message with factual information. Every major medium is used to deliver these messages, including television, radio, cinema, magazines, newspapers, video games, the Internet and billboards. Advertising is often placed by an advertising agency on behalf of a company or other organization. Here are some ads I find very cool :
